Governed by the Texas Constitution and state laws, Texas counties act as the primary, direct link between residents and the state government to implement policies, law enforcement, and critical infrastructure.
Because of this, it is vital that counties pay close attention to what is being discussed and voted on at the state capitol. We do this by being part of various associations that act on our behalf in Austin. These associations understand the challenges county officials face in carrying
out day-to-day state mandated services and they bring our concerns and needs directly to the state policy makers. In return, the associations bring back crucial information on what is being proposed and supported which then can be shared with county residents.
If elected as Ochiltree County Judge, I commit to:
Providing opportunities for you to share your concerns and ideas.
Providing regular updates on county business.
Providing regular updates on updates from the capital.
Encouraging you to attend Commissioners Court meetings and offer input.
Bringing YOUR concerns and NOT my personal agenda to both the county and state level.
Being honest and transparent about decisions being made (excluding confidential information).
My vision includes:
Monthly in-person “Lunch Chats with the County Judge” at the courthouse
Bi-annual town hall workshops to provide educational information and opportunities for feedback
Adding a page on the county website to communicate important updates and information
Regular posts on Facebook
